RECORD SALES AT LEICA, NEW LEICA OUTLET STORE, AND OTHER LEICA NEWS







Leica Camera AG finished its last fiscal year with a new sales record.  The annual sales climbed by 12 percent to a new record of 365 million euros ($416). Overall profits also rose by double figures although no concrete information has been given.

This further emphasizes that Leica is on the right track, especially in view of the fact that the photographic industry in general has reported considerable losses.


Leica Outlet Store

A relatively unknown means to save on Leica equipment is the Leica Outlet Store.  Tucked away in the back of their new facility in Wetzlar, it has limited opening hours at the second half of each week.  It has its own address: Am Leitz Park 15, Wetzlar.

For sale are remaining stock, demo equipment and second-hand goods.  The assortment for sale is constantly changing and is targeted primarily to impulse buyers. Information on the products is not available online, or by telephone, only in the outlet directly.  Much of the equipment offered is sold at half price.

Opening times are:

Thursday: 1pm – 4pm
Friday: 10:00am – 4pm
Saturday: 10:00am – 4pm


At least 10 new Leica Stores are planned

Leica is planning to further expand their Leica stores by at least 10.  These will be added to the 34 Leica stores currently in operation.  These are in addition to 35 partner stores and 135 shop-in-shop boutiques currently in operation.


Leica 12 percent Savings Continued


The 12 percent savings on most Leica items in the US, to offset the favorable euro to dollar exchange, is being continued until further notice.
