The Contarex was used during the first space walk by Ed White. It was mounted onto a small, handheld maneuvering device. There are several photographs that show Ed White using the camera outside of the space craft.LEICA Barnack Berek Bloghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09055435560407011075noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1320126156594375642.post-60529953726094637742017-12-27T15:48:19.600-06:002017-12-27T15:48:19.600-06:00Why is it that the Contarex was the first camera i...Why is it that the Contarex was the first camera in outer space? For one thing, it is doubtful that the micro lens would be able to eliminate any vignetting toward the edges and corners of the image. I am reasonable certain that the graduated filter would be an absolute necessity. But considering the extreme proximity of the rear element to the focal plane, the relative thickness of the sensor, with the Bayer filter and the micro lens stacked on top of it, might not leave enough room to mount the lens in the first place.LEICA Barnack Berek Bloghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09055435560407011075noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1320126156594375642.post-89590248362358769192017-12-26T10:26:11.477-06:002017-12-26T10:26:11.477-06:00I wonder if this lens would work on the current Le...I wonder if this lens would work on the current Leica digital cameras?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
