HYPERION CAMERA STRAPS FOR LEICA (and other) CAMERAS

As the saying goes, “If it’s too good to be true, it probably is.”  I was reminded of that when I first came across the Hyperion Camera straps.  At only €13.00, including international shipping, any color combination the customer choses, and considering what similar neck straps sell for, this definitely appeared to be too good to be true.

Since then a package arrived from Greece, with a sample strap.  I have run it through its paces, treated it roughly, and tried to wear it down, even break it.  All to no avail.  The strap looks as good as new.

Hyperion neck straps are made of a soft, acrylic material and woven like rock climbing rope, with the ends covered by about 1 ½ inch of a waxed nylon strand.  The straps as well as the waxed nylon strands are available in a multitude of colors and can be chosen in any combination desired.  In total 238 different color combinations are available. The straps attach to a camera with an oversized, 20mm diameter split ring.  By design, the split ring will never touch the camera.  Only the soft material of the strap does, thus protecting the camera very well from getting scratched.

Hyperion also offers wrist straps, made from the same materials, with the same color combinations for the same price.

Pablo K, the owner of Hyperion, designed the straps because he could not justify the cost of other, similar straps.  So he set out and designed the Hyperion straps and has been quite successful selling them at this very reasonable price.  Yes indeed, it seems too good to be true, but this is a definite example where this old adage does not apply.
