LEICA D-LUX 7 007 EDITION ANNOUNCED

Today, Leica has announced a new special edition based on the popular D-Lux 7 compact digital camera. Offering the same fast 24-75mm f/1.7-2.8 Vario-Summilux lens and large m4/3 sensor as the standard D-Lux 7, the 007 Edition features a custom rhombus-textured leather cladding, with matching handgrip and wrist strap.
To complete the Bond aesthetic, the iconic 007 logo is engraved on the top plate with the familiar 'gun barrel' design on the included front automatic lens cap. And, for the first time, Leica has made a black leather holster for a D-Lux camera, an at-the-ready carrying option fit for a secret agent.
Limited to 1,962 pieces to mark the significance of the first Bond film, "Dr. No" in 1962, each camera carries a unique edition number on its hot shoe. Priced at $1,995, this camera should appeal both to Leica enthusiasts as well as James Bond aficionados.

Key Features:

  • Limited to1962 units - celebrating the 1962 release of  Dr. No and the begin ning of the James Bond franchise.
  • Automatic lens cap with gun barrel design
  • "007" logo engraved on top plate
  • Handgrip, wrist strap and exclusive holster included
  • Durable rhombus textured cladding
  • Same technical specifications as the standard production Leica D-Lux 7

The Leica D-Lux 7 007 Edition  will start shipping next week for a price of $1,995. Limited to just 1,962 pieces worldwide, we do expect this edition to sell out fairly quickly.

  1. Undecided between getting the D lux 7 007 or TL2, D lux 7 is an old camera while TL2 will be discontinued, your thoughts?

    1. The main difference between the two cameras is the fact that the TL2 has interchangeable lenses. That increases the versatility of the camera to a huge degree. While just one lens might be perfect at this time, interchangeable lenses do protect you, in a way, from having to compromise in the future, should your interest or needs change. Not only do they offer to equip your camera with the right lens for varying subjects (wide angle to telephoto), but it also opens up the entire world of close up photography. I would not be concerned that the TL2 is discontinued. That has no bearing on the performance of the camera at all. It has proven itself as an excellent performer over the years. I still have a Leica Digilux 2 which was discontinued many years ago. I still use it and it performs as well as on day one.
