Novoflex has introduced a
new adapter for the Leica SL to accept Canon EF lenses. This is an electronic adapter which will
transfer some of the electronic functions of the lens to the Leica SL,
including autofocus as well as aperture control. This will greatly expand the versatility of
the Leica SL by gaining access to the rather extensive line of Canon EF
lenses. This will also be a welcome
addition to Canon owners that are interested in the Leica SL.
Here is the complete list of the lens functions maintained by the adapter:
- Autofocus
- Automatic aperture control
- AF/MF modus
- Depth of field indication
- Transmission of EXIF data for aperture and focal distance
The price of the Novoflex-Leica SL adapter in
Germany is 499 euros.
In addition Novoflex
offers adapter for the Leica T for a large variety of lenses from other
manufacturters.

Because it's smaller? And for the Leica SL owner who wants a lens or lenses which, so far, are not available from Leica.
