CARTIER-BRESSON STYLE STREET PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOPS USING LEICA 1a CAMERAS

By Heinz Richter

Many of the Leica stores offer a variety of photography workshops. The choices are many. But a recent announcement by Leica Store Manchester cought my eye. It promises to be rather unique.

It may be of interest to Leica users and all those interested in film photography. Early next year Leica Store Manchester will be running Cartier-Bresson style street photography workshops using Leica 1a cameras with 50mm f3.5 Elmar lenses. They will supply the cameras (max 8 per session) loaded with a 36 exposure Black and White film that, when finished, will be developed and scanned and sent on to the participants. This is real back to basic Leica film photography using highly sought after 1925-1930 classic Barnack cameras. Those taking part will be invited to send them an image that, if chosen as their favorite, will win a Leica related prize. Full details of these free of charge workshops will soon be available on LSM website or by contacting : kathryn@leicastoremanchester.com
