GOOD NEWS FOR ANALOG PHOTOGRAPHERS

© Tetenal

On February 3 we reported that the 172 year old German company of Tetenal was closing its doors.  That was especially bad news for analog photography because Tetenal, besides offering a large variety of photographic chemicals under their own name, was making chemicals in bulk for a large variety of photographic companies like Kodak and Ilford for instance.

At that time it was also reported that an employee-led management buyout offer had been made and was waiting for approval.  That offer has been accepted by the administrator overseeing Tetenal’s insolvency proceedings.

New Tetenal, as the newly formed company will be called, will take over the large number of chemical formulas, the Tetenal brand, and the production assets.

This buy-out offer was headed by Stefania Grimme, Carsten Gehring, and Burkhardt Mueller.  They received overwhelming support for their efforts from Tetenal employees, photographers and commercial customers alike.

The new company is planning to start operating on April 1st, 2019.  Orders will be accepted starting in March.

This is indeed good news for analog photographers.  It will assure that the supply of chemicals will continue without interruption, from Tetenal as well as their many commercial customers.
