NEW LEICA M10-P ASC 100

Leica has announced the Leica M10-P 100 ASC, a limited edition model to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the American Society of Cinematographers. Even though the Leica M10 is not designed to shoot video, the M10-P ASC is designed as a useful tool for cinematographers.

The camera incorporates several unique features to allow checking the visual and technical aspects of a scene before shooting. These are two specially designed cinema-look modes as part of the software of the camera. In the Cine classic mode the camera simulated the analog 35 mm motion-picture film look and in the Contemporary mode the current digital look of contemporary movies is displayed. In addition the live mode view will display the frames of the different the aspect ratios used in cinematography.

The Leica M10-P ASC 100 also includes the Visoflex electronic viewfinder as well as the M-PL mount, enabling the camera to use any PL mount cine lenses. All of these additional features allow cinematographers and filmmakers to view and test a scene with a great variety of lenses prior to any actual shooting. This makes the ASC 100 much more than just a special edition commemorative version of the Leica m10-P.
