LEICA SL CHOSEN AS BEST PREMIUM CAMERA

TIPA Awards 2016

On April 18, TIPA, the Technical Image Press Association, had chosen this year's general assembly to be held in San Francisco.  TIPA consists of 27 photo magazines from 15 countries.  Their annual awards honor photographic products which are chosen by the technical editors as particularly remarkable.

The award for best premium camera was given to the Leica SL for its uncompromising quality and truly professional approach as a truly professional mirrorless camera.  Part of the consideration was the equally uncompromising line of lenses made specifically for this camera.

This award clearly shows that Leica is once again a major player on the professional camera market.  Noticeably absent from these awards was the Leica M line of rangefinder cameras.  However, that is not surprising because nobody else makes a rangefinder cameras of that caliber, and giving an award to a product without competition effectively makes no sense.
