German photography
magazine PROFIFOTO announced that Leica
and Yuneec have entered a strategic technology partnership. As part of this
announcement, the jointly developed ION L1 Pro camera was presented, which is
delivered together with the Typhoon H3 Multicopter from Yuneec.
Leica supports Yuneec as
part of the partnership in the specification and development of hardware
components and image-processing software. The joint development of the ION L1
Pro camera is only the first step in the cooperation between Leica and Yuneec.
Unlimited perspectives and
new, creative possibilities
Leica Camera AG and Yuneec
bring the best of their two worlds together, the combination of the Typhoon H3
and the Leica camera ION L1 Pro. The H3 is specifically designed for
photographers and videographers who want to rediscover the world from above.
Utilizing high quality materials, implementing a variety of flight features in
combination with a 1 "CMOS camera sensor, it offers you a well
thought-out, perfectly coordinated overall system for photography. The reliable
and safe Hexacopter design, thanks to its 6 rotors, is stable even in windy
conditions with the help of the stabilized 3-axis gimbal, allowing you to
capture perfectly stabilized and sharp 20 MP photos and up to 4K videos at 60
frames per second.
The projected price for the entire unit is €2,399
This partnership further underlines Leica's farsightedness to expand into fields of photography so far unavailable from other traditional camera manufacturers.
